I primarily write novels, but my short fiction has been anthologized in Cultural Memory Studies: New Approaches (Bloomsbury Academic, 2023). My stories have won contests from The Tulane Review and Permafrost. I’ve been honored to be a fellow at Yaddo and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and I have been nominated for Best New American Voices. I have an M.F.A. from the University of Oregon, and a J.D. from the University of Virginia.
I grew up in Washington, D.C. and, before Texas, I lived in Manhattan, Eugene, Oregon, and Western Massachusetts. I’ve been, variously, a campaign volunteer, a political appointee, a corporate lawyer, a writing instructor, an academic administrator, a tennis teacher, and a homeschooling mom.
